Back from the dead...

A resurrection of sorts for this blog. I'm going to try and give it a serious go this time around. And here we go...

Yesterday I played in the Toys for Tots 7s Rugby Tournament in Des Moines, IA on the Des Moines Blue team. We ended up taking fifth out of 14 teams and did pretty well considering we suffered some injuries throughout the day. I made it through relatively unscathed (but fuck am I sore today), although the strap on my boots busted. I'm going to try and send them into Adidas for repair so I won't have to buy a new pair. I scored 5 trys or so, and kicked all my conversions through, but I set up more than I scored and ended up captaining/selecting/coaching/leading the side more so than focusing on my playing. It was an interesting experience.

I ran into a bunch of old UNI Alumni's who I hadn't seen in a few years, in addition to the guys who are still playing at UNI. Good times. Unfortunately for me, we had to play against UNI who didn't field a very strong 7s side, as they had brought mostly bigger forwards. But, while not doing so hot at the 7 a side game, they should do pretty well in the 15s this fall if they can recruit more. UNI Alumni weekend is in a few weeks and should be a fun time.

Some friends from UNI came down to visit this weekend. Big thanks to Brian and Kevin for making the trip. I sure as hell enjoyed you guys being around, and hope it wasn't too boring or anything for you.

I'm hoping to go see Hellboy II tonight, but my lack of a car might prevent it...oh well, here's hoping.
